Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is a very perfect place to go to right next door to C and S Financial Corporation Lake, and obviously Camp Creek flows through this area. You'll need more than a day to look at everything C and S Financial Corporation Lake has to offer, you can camp at Stone Mountain Park, and get drenched paddling on Yellow River. Summer brings highs in the 80's to C and S Financial Corporation Lake, and all through the night it cools down to the 60's. that you need to camp here for a while, Jones RV Park is a tremendous site for that. C and S Financial Corporation Lake usually gets lots of rainfall; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain while October is regularly
the driest month.
Man, is there a lot of cool things to do close to C and S Financial Corporation Lake. The Brookshire Creek Trail offers hiking at its best, and do check out Sturdivant Lake, it's a scenic lake. You can take a
little journey to C and S Financial Corporation Dam since you're here at C and S Financial Corporation Lake; if you're here, you could also stop at stunning Newton Lake.

Simmons Lake

My father had a home in the Echo Lake subdivision in the 1960's and the way I remember what happened to Simmons Lake was that that after Lakeside High School was built the earthen dam that held back Simmons Lake broke and that was pretty much the end of the lake. It wasn't repaired. The small lake next to Briarcliff Road was a separate lake that was fed from Simmons lake and in turn fed Echo Lake. This small lake appears from an aerial photograph to have nearly silted in. The culvert under Briarcliff Road from the small lake to Echo Lake was a favorite haunt for chasing snakes and turtles. I remember Echo Lake being dredged in the 1960's. Back then there was little Echo Lake at the other end of Echo Lake and it no longer exists. Little Echo Lake had a concrete dam that failed a couple of times and I suppose was given up on. The homes in Echo Lake subdivision sold in the 20-25K range. This area was a perfect place for my brother and me to spend summers. Dad told me years later that he wouldn't see us until dinner time in the summer because we spent all day doing things around these la... |

It's not only accessible but it's very accessible. For some bizarre reason the County put in a boat ramp, so get out there and paddle around a bit. Pick up some trash left by some people and storm runoff while your at it....I was born and grew up in the community surrounding this lake from 1955 to 1969. Too bad it is not more easily accessible....Buena Vista Lake is just a tiny pond in a city park. There is no reason for tourists to visit unless you happen to be staying in the neighborhood and want to take a walk.... |

Putting in at Killian Hill Rd , the best white water is just down river from HWY 78 to the Yellow River Park. Beyond the park is unknown territory....Yellow river at Poterdale can get pretty tough after a good rain. Bring your A game!...water from 124 to porterdale is about 3 feet average in the summertime. lots of fun. easy river. clean too. lots of fallen trees in the water, great wildlife, snakes, turtles and fish. the dam in porterdale is easily passed adn the rapids following are verry shallow. email at coadydraven@yahoo.com with questions.... |
