A visit to Brooks Lake is always a good idea. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Skull Shoal Creek. Brooks Lake Dam is a place that is next to Brooks Lake, and camping is available at Oconee River Campground and Picnic Area. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Wesleyan Campground if you're here at Brooks Lake, and there is a nice hiking trail nearby called the Mounds Trail.

Man, is there a lot of cool stuff to do close to Brooks Lake. If you need a location to stay Comfort Suites Athens is a nice choice; if you come at the right time of year, Big Clouds Creek offers some good whitewater. Near Brooks Lake you discover the Town Creek Bike Trail which is a splendid hiking trail, and you're sure to run into some fine people from Athens-Clarke County here. At Brooks Lake through the summer
months highs are in the 80's, and the nighttime is a little chillier of course, mostly in the 60's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 50's with temperatures at Brooks Lake dipping down into the 20's through winter nights.
