Brays Lake is a delightful place to visit for more than one day, Poplar Springs Campgrounds is a delightful place to camp nearby, and in case you don’t mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Rice Creek. Not far from Brays Lake, you'll stumble on Alston Lake which is

| | a gorgeous lake; since you're here you can play some golf at Highland Walk Golf Course. Victoria Bryant State Park is a glorious local campground, and Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites LAVONIA is a magnificent spot to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Brays Lake is a relatively wet place generally with a great deal of rainfall; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. | |

At Brays Lake throughout the summer highs are in the 80's, and the nighttime is quite colder of course, regularly in the 60's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 50's with temperatures at Brays Lake dipping down
into the 20's during winter nights. That right there is plenty already, but it goes on; Brays Lake has it all. Visit Stephens Creek if you're here at Brays Lake; you don’t have to go far from Brays Lake to make out the water at
Brays Lake Dam. This lake is so wonderful. If you're going to Brays Lake from Toccoa, you won't be the only one, and Broad River has a good whitewater paddling spot close by.

Stonecypher Lake
 | 13 miles away ...of the Smokie Mountains. It is fed by Freeman Creek, McAvoy Branch and Coe Branch. This lake is located on the farm lands of Palmer Simpson Stonecypher and was constructed in the mid 1950's. The shorelines are constant except in times of heavy rainfall and original life of lake was projected to exceed 100 years. Silt accumulation after 20 years was approximately .5 inche. Normal elevation is apporximately 800'. Feeder streams maintain lake levels even during extended periods of insufficient rainfall and at the same time provide spill into the exiting stream bed. The lake has been pulled down during periods of heavy construction of highways across the feeder streams to allow silt to return to the streams and pass thru thedrain gates. Buena Vista Dr crosses the lake in two places; one being the main dam and again on the Coe Branch inlet. Original construction of dams accommodated these crossings. Over the years sport fishing has been excellent with large mouth Bass, Crappie, Brem, Pike And Catfish, however fishing is limited due to private ownership of property ... |
