You could also go to Lake Ola while you're here at Boyds Lake; it's nearby, and there are some magnificent whitewater spots on South River. If you came for an overnight stay New Hope Campground is a perfect place to camp, and probably       you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Lake Dow is just a very short distance away. Why not take a look at nearby Kalves Creek since you're here at Boyds Lake, and Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail is a very delightful location to have a look at. The high level of rain makes Boyds Lake a rather wet site; most of the rain falls through March; the driest month is September. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Boyds Lake, and the nighttime is somewhat                  cooler of course, mostly in the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are frequently in the 50's while the cold winter nights at Boyds Lake are in the 30's.
