You'll need more than a day to discover everything Bowen Pond has to offer, you can camp at Heritage Mobile Home Community; dry warm beds await you at Courtyard Augusta. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Turkey Creek Hiking Trail is always a good adventure, and Stevens Creek has a good whitewater paddling spot nearby. Summertime highs at Bowen Pond frequently tend to be in the 90's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The cold

| | days of the winter come with highs in the 50's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Bowen Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Near Bowen Pond you discover a golf course called Augusta Golf Course, and a lake close by is Johns Pond. So many enjoyable things to do here at Bowen Pond, too fine to be true. Bowen Pond is a splendid location to visit for more than one day, Forks Campground is a splendid location to camp nearby; why not go to Bowen Pond | |

Dam if you're here. Stewarts Ponds is a nearby lake that you could check out; you're sure to run into some smiling folks from Augusta-Richmond County here. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always
go whitewater paddling on Savannah River; Value Place Riverwatch is a nice spot to get some rest. The high level of rain makes Bowen Pond a pretty wet place; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and November on
the other hand is the driest. Near Bowen Pond you find the Horn Creek Hiking Trail which is a fine hiking trail, and hey, Reed Creek is a fine local stream.

Savannah River
 | There are two open spillway dams between the Hwy 28 (Fury's Ferry) Bridge and I-20: Stevens Creek Dam (at the confluence of Stevens Creek) and the Augusta Canal Diversion Dam (about a mile downstream of Stevens Creek Dam). There are no marked access points immediately on either side of either dam. Georgia Power Co. operates an electric generating facility on the Georgia (south) bank at Stevens Creek. At the Canal, since the canal immediately parallels the river some twenty feet above it, there is no river access whatsoever on the Georgia side. Portage would be recommended along private land on the South Carolina side of both dams.... |
