Blalock Lake is a magnificent site to visit for more than one day, Marietta Campground is a magnificent site to camp nearby; Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is a good national park. After a long day outdoors Homestead Inn is a perfect spot to spend a night or two, and the smiling folks of Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta like to hang out nearby. Through the warmest time of the year here at Blalock Lake, high temperatures frequently reach the 80's.

| | During the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. Throughout the wintertime the highs are ordinarily in the 40's, and overnight lows at Blalock Lake throughout the wintertime typically fall into the 20's. There's whitewater on Big Creek for all you thrill seekers. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Blalock Lake has to offer, you can camp at Twin Lakes Park. the wettest month of the year is frequently March, that's the one that rains the most while October is mostly the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Comfort Inn Canton is a great site to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful.
You can run the rapids of Marsh Creek near Blalock Lake, and don't leave Blalock Lake without first going for a hike along the Brookshire Creek Trail. If you go for the outdoors, you'll go for Blalock Lake. Why not spend some
time golfing at a nearby golf course like Bradshaw Farms Golf Course, and a beautiful lake like Lusk Lake is a tremendous spot to visit. Lakes are such calm places, why not go to Sellers Lake near Blalock Lake, and Blalock Lake Dam is not far at all from Blalock Lake.

Simmons Lake
 | 19 miles away My father had a home in the Echo Lake subdivision in the 1960's and the way I remember what happened to Simmons Lake was that that after Lakeside High School was built the earthen dam that held back Simmons Lake broke and that was pretty much the end of the lake. It wasn't repaired. The small lake next to Briarcliff Road was a separate lake that was fed from Simmons lake and in turn fed Echo Lake. This small lake appears from an aerial photograph to have nearly silted in. The culvert under Briarcliff Road from the small lake to Echo Lake was a favorite haunt for chasing snakes and turtles. I remember Echo Lake being dredged in the 1960's. Back then there was little Echo Lake at the other end of Echo Lake and it no longer exists. Little Echo Lake had a concrete dam that failed a couple of times and I suppose was given up on. The homes in Echo Lake subdivision sold in the 20-25K range. This area was a perfect place for my brother and me to spend summers. Dad told me years later that he wouldn't see us until dinner time in the summer because we spent all day doing things around these la... |
