All the water falling down from the sky makes Bird Lake a wet site; March is when you get the most rain here; October on the other hand is the driest. Whitewater paddling is great on Apalachee River; Bird Lake Dam is an attention-grabbing thing to check out. High temperatures at Bird Lake during the warm days of summer are in the 80's. For       the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 60's. Throughout the wintertime highs are commonly in the 50's, and overnight lows in the 30's for Bird Lake. If the weather is glorious here at Bird Lake, you can go for a hike along the Scull Shoals Trail, and needless to say, this is a magnificent region for people who like lakes, Walker Lake is a lake in close proximity. Lake Oconee Center is a glorious campground nearby, and needless                  to say Apalachee River flows through this region. There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Bird Lake. Nearby lakes? Sure, Massey Lake is in the vicinity of Bird Lake, and people from Athens-Clarke County love to come here. Why not spend some time golfing at a close by golf course like Port Armor Country Club. This lake is so wonderful. Near Bird Lake you discover the Mounds Trail which is a great hiking trail, and if you need a place to stay The Lodge On Lake Oconee is a fine choice. This lake is so wonderful.
