     Magnolia Spring is a lovely location to pop by while you're at Billie Pond, and camping at Daisy Farms RV Park is always a fine experience. Summertime at Billie Pond arrives with high temperatures in the 90's while nighttime lows are commonly in the 70's. The winter brings highs down to the 60's while the cold winter nights at Billie Pond are in the 30's. Visit Bull Creek while you're here at Billie Pond, and the scenery at Deloach Lower Pond Dam is wonderful.
 
   This place, Billie Pond, it simply has so much outdoors cool stuff. A splendid place to camp here at Billie Pond is Parkwood RV Park; the fine people of Statesboro like to hang out nearby. Billie Pond sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is regularly July, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is November. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Billie Pond, you'll find Deloach Lower Pond which is a pretty lake, and  
               dry warm beds await you at Scottish Inns - Register.
Lakes are tremendous; De Loach Upper Pond is a lake that's close to Billie Pond, and after a long day outdoors Downtowner Inns Claxton is a great location to spend a night or two.

The subject lake was never named Haarley Lake.

When it was first built, it was named after a guy named Haar who, along with his family was killed in a boating accident. He was president of the Savannah Outboard Motor Racing Association.

After the Association, which built the lake, defaulted on its responsibilities to maintain the dam in good order, its owner Bertie D. Burpitt, changed the name to Burpitt's Lake.

After the death of Mr. Burpitt, and eventual sale of the property, the lake was renamed yet again Lake Loraine, which is its name today.

I know all this because Mr. Burpitt was my grandfather and I was raised on the property since before the lake was constructed....
