Berry Lake is a brilliant place to visit for more than one day, Sawnee Campground is a brilliant place to camp nearby; at Berry Lake Dam next to Berry Lake there are some interesting things to see. Drift down the rapids of Yellow River in a kayak, and there is a splendid hiking trail close by called the Brookshire Creek Trail. Sun Suites of Suwanee is a brilliant location to get some rest, and the sights at Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area will

Nearby lakes? Sure, Number Gate Lake is close to Berry Lake, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Yellow River. But wait, there's more to do close to Berry Lake. You could also stop by Lake Louella since you're here at Berry Lake; it's nearby, and Lawrenceville Campground is a tremendous campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. If you're a golfer then a wonderful nearby course is Collins Hill Golf Club, and there are plenty of people | |

Berry Lake frequently gets a great deal of rainfall; March is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is October. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Berry Lake, and the night is
a tad chillier of course, ordinarily in the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 40's; after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Berry Lake fall into the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. If
you need a location to stay Sun Suites Of Suwanee is a great choice, and don't forget to take a good little spree to Bennett Creek.

Simmons Lake

My father had a home in the Echo Lake subdivision in the 1960's and the way I remember what happened to Simmons Lake was that that after Lakeside High School was built the earthen dam that held back Simmons Lake broke and that was pretty much the end of the lake. It wasn't repaired. The small lake next to Briarcliff Road was a separate lake that was fed from Simmons lake and in turn fed Echo Lake. This small lake appears from an aerial photograph to have nearly silted in. The culvert under Briarcliff Road from the small lake to Echo Lake was a favorite haunt for chasing snakes and turtles. I remember Echo Lake being dredged in the 1960's. Back then there was little Echo Lake at the other end of Echo Lake and it no longer exists. Little Echo Lake had a concrete dam that failed a couple of times and I suppose was given up on. The homes in Echo Lake subdivision sold in the 20-25K range. This area was a perfect place for my brother and me to spend summers. Dad told me years later that he wouldn't see us until dinner time in the summer because we spent all day doing things around these la... |
