What a nice lake Bates Pond is. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Bates Pond has to offer, you can camp at Pirkle Campground, and Buzzard Mountain can be seen from Bates Pond. There's so much to do here at Bates Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Heart of Georgia RV Park is a splendid spot for that, and dry warm beds await you at Econo Lodge Thomaston. Drift down the rapids of Flint River in a kayak; Bates Pond Dam is not far at all from Bates Pond. If you fancy the outdoors, you'll adore Bates Pond. If you come at the right time of year, Potato Creek offers some fine whitewater, and Hickory Ridge Golf Club is a wonderful golf course close by. Do stop by Potato Creek Watershed Lake Number Six close to Bates Pond, it's a charming lake.

the winter are in the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. People from Thomaston love to come to Bates Pond, and Thomaston-Days Inn is a wonderful spot to get some rest.
