Don't leave Barnett Lake without first going for a hike along the Scull Shoals Trail, and a good nearby hotel is Americas Best Inns-Athens. Good hiking is available along the Mounds Trail, and Lake Rossie is a glorious lake nearby. This lake is so wonderful. You'll meet a lot of folks from Athens-Clarke County here; Barnett Lake is a tremendous spot to camp, Pine Lake RV Campground is a tremendous       spot. Now, you may assume that's a heap but there's even more enjoyable stuff to do here at Barnett Lake. Whitlow Creek is a splendid spot to explore, and Apalachee River is a good whitewater spot nearby. There's great hiking along the Falling Camp Trail, and if you need a spot to stay Microtel Inn Athens is a glorious choice. In case you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Rose Creek. You'll need more than                  a day to explore everything Barnett Lake has to offer, you can camp at Oconee River Campground and Picnic Area. This lake is so wonderful. Barnett Lake is a wet place that gets a large amount of rain; through March this area sees the most rain, and September on the other hand is the driest. All through the warm days of summer at Barnett Lake highs are usually in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 60's.
