Ashley Lake is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. Throughout the warm months at Ashley Lake highs are frequently in the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. All through the wintertime highs are generally in the 50's, and overnight lows at Ashley Lake all through the winter regularly plunge into the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. Ashley Lake is right by the Mounds Trail. Hiking along the Falling Camp Trail is wonderful

| | fun, and if you came for an overnight stay Oconee River Campground and Picnic Area is a glorious site to camp. Ashley Lake is a wet place that gets a large amount of rain; the month with most of the rain is March, and the driest month of the year is October. You'll meet a lot of folks from Athens-Clarke County here, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Rose Creek.
