    Allens Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Not far from Allens Lake, you'll find Centralia Lake which is a beautiful lake, and Allens Lake is a place with many visitors from LaGrange. Cedar Creek flows through this region, and Flat Rock Campground is a pleasant local campground. Allens Lake is a pretty wet place generally with much precipitation; March is the wettest month with most rain while September is the month with the  
   least amount of precipitation.
All through the warmest time of the year at Allens Lake highs are usually in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 50's; nighttime lows at Allens Lake during the winter frequently fall into the 20's. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors entertaining stuff the area near Allens Lake has to offer. A glorious nearby hotel is Key West Inn Roanoke, and if
 
               you need a place to stay Super 8 Motel - La Grange is a good choice. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop at nearby Awbreys Lake, and Allens Lake Dam is a gorgeous site.
This lake is so wonderful. Highland Marina Resort is a nice campground nearby, and get dripping wet paddling on Whooping Creek.

...s no way to float a boat in this creek as it is only ankle deep 90% of the way. I have lived on this creek my entire life and have barely been able to find a spotdeep enough to swim in most years. It is however a great place to hike and camp. I dont know much about the adjacent property owners but in 29 years have never been bothered hiking the section between Clem-Lowell road and Hwy 5 (the section you are referring to).The section on the opposite side of hwy 5 is owned by Inland Paper and posted. There are a few property owners on shilo church road that will allow you passage to the water. I have floated a canoe to the river on this section after months of rain, but in general it is also too shallow. There are some deep holes in this section of the creek that offer great bream and bass fishing. The fishing is best closer to the river and it is not uncommon to catch 7# striped bass swimming up from the river looking for food.
