This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay Econo Lodge Cartersville is a great choice, and you can spend the day on the beach at Upper Tanyard Creek Swimming Beach. A fine nearby hotel is Fairfield Inn & Suites Cartersville, and there's some flowing water nearby, Allatoona Creek is a       stream you can stop by while here. This lake is so wonderful. A magnificent spot to camp here at Allatoona Lake is Red Top Mtn. State Park and Lodge, and if you're popping by from Calhoun, you won't be the only one. For the period of the summertime months at Allatoona Lake temperatures are frequently in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's with winter lows                  in the 20's overnight here at Allatoona Lake. There's some out of the ordinary stuff to make out at Abernathy Lake Dam near Allatoona Lake, and why not spend some time golfing at a close by golf course like Pumpkinvine Golf Club.
