Taking a little trip to close by Burnt Bay is a great idea; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore nearby Berry Lake. All the water falling down from the sky makes Akins Pond a wet location; August is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is November. For the period of the warm       days of summer here at Akins Pond, high temperatures commonly reach the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 60's while the cold winter nights at Akins Pond are in the 30's. No way I can stop, cause I'm havin' a wonderful time here at Akins Pond. Hortense wesleyan Camp is a good campground nearby, and a pleasant close by hotel is Microtel Inn and Suites Brunswick. Stay the night at Satilla                  River Vacation Land; the great people of Brunswick like to hang out close by. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Super 8 Brunswick/South is a good place to spend a night or two; hey, Tenmile Swamp is a good local stream. While you're here at Akins Pond you can play some golf at Salacoa Golf Course, and Akins Pond Dam is not far at all from Akins Pond.
