Why not go to close by Rock Branch since you're here at Abernathy Lake, and pleasant hiking is available along the Kinnard Horse Trail. This lake is so wonderful. People from Macon love to come to Abernathy Lake, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Towaliga River. Abernathy Lake is near Abernathy Dam which is a picturesque place certainly worth visiting, and going for a hike on the Ocmulgee River Trail is       always a good adventure. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Abernathy Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Forsyth Koa Kampground is a magnificent site for that; Forsyth Golf Club is a magnificent golf course close by. If you came to camp L and D RV Park is a pleasant spot to do that, and Comfort Suites Forsyth is a pleasant place to get some rest. The high level of rainfall makes Abernathy Lake a relatively wet place; of all                  the months in a year March is the one with the most rain, and October is the month with the least moisture. Be careful coming to Abernathy Lake, you might not ever want to return back home again. Glide down the rapids of Little Towaliga River in a kayak, and you can go for a hike on the Allison Lake Wildlife Trail. All through the long summer days here at Abernathy Lake, high temperatures regularly reach the 80's with nighttime lows in the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are mostly in the 50's; winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Abernathy Lake.
