Torreya State Park is a splendid campground nearby, and hey, The Bayou is a great local stream. Sheppard Lake sees pretty high levels of rain; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is October. This lake is so wonderful. A glorious swamp near Sheppard Lake is Buzzard       Lake; you need to go to West Wynnton Bend while you're here. So much fun stuff to do here at Sheppard Lake, too great to be true. Lakes are such serene locations, why not have a look at Wind Lake in close proximity to Sheppard Lake. Summertime highs at Sheppard Lake mostly tend to be in the 90's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's. For the duration of the winter the highs are usually in the 60's; winter nights                  come with lows in the 30's to Sheppard Lake.
