Hay Lake usually gets lots of rainfall; August is the month that gets the most rain, and October on the other hand is the driest. Hay Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park is a great local campground, and on a brilliant day you can go to Mill Pond, a swamp close to Hay Lake. This lake is so wonderful. A pretty lake like Fish Pond in the neighborhood of Hay Lake is a great site to       pop by, and dry warm beds await you at Knights Inn. After a long day outdoors Micanopy Knights Inn is a delightful place to spend a night or two. There's so much to do here at Hay Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Sportman's Cove is a perfect site for that, and you're sure to come across some fine people from Gainesville here. High temperatures at Hay Lake throughout the summer are in the 90's, and during the night it cools down to the 70's.
