This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Hankins Pond is splendid fun, Suwannee River State Park is a splendid local campground, and why not visit a swamp like Bear Bay while you're here at Hankins Pond. All the water falling down from the sky makes Hankins Pond a wet place; August is when you get the most rain here, and October on the other hand is the driest.
