Smiths Pond is a lake in close proximity; if you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Turket Creek. There are plenty of people from Valdosta here at Grassy Pond, and after a long day outdoors Super 8 Motel - Lake Park/Valdosta is a good place to spend a night or two. Just can't get enough of Grassy Pond. For the duration of       the summer months at Grassy Pond temperatures are commonly in the 90's. Summer overnight lows sink down to the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are mostly in the 60's while the cold winter nights at Grassy Pond are in the 30's. Camping is available at Eagles Roost Campground, and dry warm beds await you at Valdosta-Days Inn Lake Park. Grassy Pond typically gets a good deal of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is July while October is the                  month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful.
