    The beauty of Dixon Lake is reason enough to stop by. If you need a place to stay Carlson Inn & Suites By Carlson, Crestview, FL is a brilliant choice, and a splendid spot to explore nearby is Deer Head. You're perhaps hooked on lakes, Lake Kennedy is one of those close by, and at Dixon Lake you always meet someone from Fort Walton Beach-Crestview-Destin. This lake is so wonderful. Beaver Branch flows through this neighborhood, and camping at Passport America is  
   always a pleasant experience.
Jameson Inn Crestview is a good spot to get some rest; Dixon Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Action On Blackwater Canoe Rental and Campground is a fine local campground. Don't leave Dixon Lake without first going for a hike along the Lake Shore Trail. Man, is there a heap of cool things to do close to Dixon Lake. Good hiking is available along the Conecuh Trail. Lakes are perfect; A J Kennedy Pond Two is a lake
 
               that's in close proximity to Dixon Lake.
Lots of rainfall falls at Dixon Lake; most of the rain falls during March; October on the other hand is the driest. High temperatures at Dixon Lake through the days of summer are in the 90's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's usually in the 60's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 50's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Dixon Lake temperatures dip to the 30's.

I think that the Fla. Division Of Forestry should put a stop to people saving sights for days with a small tent before parking their unit on the sight.  People are tuned away that could be utilizing these sights and enjoying our beautiful area.  I realize the division is still collecting the same money for the sight.  But it is agravating to drive through hoping to park your unit and find half or more sights saved with a small tent and no one in them....

This is one of the Eglin ponds open to public by permit. There are several primitive campsites with picnic tables, a pavillion, and nature trails....even a little fishing pier.
The dirt road is passable for a small RV, but leveling is difficult. Contact Jackson Goard at Eglin for permit. Pass is $6 a year, and to camp is $5 for 5 days. Blue Gills and Bass are in the pond, as well as (I'd bet) an aligator or two....
