You can run the rapids of Turket Creek in the vicinity of Lake Alcyone, and Valdosta-Days Inn Lake Park is a good location to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. You could also go to Grassy Pond while you're here at Lake Alcyone; it's nearby, and camping is available at Eagles Roost Campground. Summertime highs at Lake Alcyone typically tend to be in the 90's. During the dark hours of       summer temperatures descend down into the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 60's; after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Lake Alcyone sink into the 30's. Whohoo, so much fun stuff in one place! Lake Alcyone rules! Zeigler Lake is a swamp right next door to Lake Alcyone, and you're sure to encounter some smiling folks from Valdosta here.
