Silver Lake is not far at all from Dover, and Best Western Smyrna Inn is a great location to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. There's some attention-grabbing stuff to see at Silver Lake Dam next to Silver Lake. Take a side journey to Deep Creek, and the views at New Jersey Coastal Heritage Trail Route will blow your mind. If you get bored of Silver Lake, you could also check out close by Wiggins Mill Pond, and if you need a site to stay Hampton Inn

| | Middletown is a glorious choice. High temperatures at Silver Lake throughout the months of summer are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. Highs during the wintertime are frequently in the 40's; through the dark hours in the winter at Silver Lake temperatures dip to the 20's. Silver Lake sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is July, and the driest of the months is February. This lake is so wonderful. | |

Noxontown Lake is a nearby lake that you could visit, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Red Clay Creek. You imagine that's enough? Just getting warmed up. If you're a golfer then a magnificent close by course is Back Creek
Golf Club, and Odessa Campground is a great local campground. Silver Lake is a good place to visit for more than one day, Lums Pond State Park is a good place to camp nearby; drift down the rapids of Big Elk Creek in a kayak.

 | 1 PHOTO ... so your selections of lures and colors should reflect that. There are just hundreds of trees, rocks, gravel, sand, and laydowns, so you need to know where to spend most of your time. There are various types of vegetation, including lots of lily pads, that rise above the surface. The extreme upper end, is shallow and muddy, and holds less large bass than other sections of the lake.
The first place to start is the North shore, about 200 yards up from the school. This area is best probed with spinnerbait and buzzbaits first for active fish, but it is definitely a jig or tube area. Work all this cover, (and there will be a lot of it), with a 3/8 oz. Black/blue jig with a Zoom or Uncle Josh trailer. Work each limb on the laydowns, and move in to the bases, before moving on to the next. The trees extend out over the water from the shore in many areas, so you need to practice skipping, and pitching, as well as flipping, if you want to work this lake properly. Work these lures all the way to the next cove on your right, then move up the lake about 200 yards, and start over again. The... |
