Wood Pond is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. Woodridge Lake Dam is a lovely place close to Wood Pond, and a spree to Talcott Mountain State Park revitalizes the spirit. Farmington River - Collinsville is a great whitewater spot near Wood Pond, and there are plenty of folks from Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford here. This lake is so wonderful. | | so wonderful. Camping is available at Golden Acres Campground. This lake is so wonderful. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Powder Ridge is close to Wood Pond, and if you need a location to stay Courtyard by Marriott Hartford Farmington is a splendid choice. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this location. An afternoon playing golf at Buena Vista Golf Course is always a delight, and on a lovely day you obtain a pleasant sight of Burnt Hill from Wood Pond. A | |

Pool. Now, you may feel that's loads but there's even more cool stuff to do here at Wood Pond. Mooneys Woods is worth a visit; if you're looking for some flowing water? Try South Branch Trout Brook. A delightful swamp close to
Wood Pond is Spice Bush Swamp; do take a hike on the Mattabesset Trail. You could also pop by Burnt Hill Reservoir while you're here at Wood Pond; it's nearby, and hiking along the Tunxis Trail is pleasant fun. Lots of rain falls
at Wood Pond; May is when you get the most rain here; the driest month is February. For the duration of the summer months highs here at Wood Pond get into the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. For the duration
of the winter highs are frequently in the 30's; after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Wood Pond sink into the 10's.

Metacomet Trail
 | Gene, The trailhead at 315 and 189 is actually on Mountain Road which comes off the Rd right at the juncture. The telphone poles are blazed and the trail breaks into the woods about halfway up on the right side of the road. That is a nice section of trail although we hiked it in the rain. Happy Trails....I am having difficulty locating the trail head in East Granby at rtes. 315 and 189 that leads to south toward Penwood State Park. The trail maps say that the trail head is on Mountain Road, but there are no blue/yellow blazed trail markers on either of the two entry points into the woods. The only indication of the trail is the sign post at the bottom of the road in the three way intersection. Thanks.... |
