Woodridge Lake Dam is a stunning place in the neighborhood of Wood Pond; some nearby water includes South Branch Trout Brook. Not far from Wood Pond, you'll discover Burnt Hill Reservoir which is a stunning lake, and camping is available at Camp Eagle Feather. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Wood Pond you can take a hike along the Mattabesset Trail, and a tour to Talcott Mountain State Park is a magnificent idea. There's just no way anybody can get

| | bored here at Wood Pond. Near Wood Pond you locate a golf course called Buena Vista Golf Course, and soar down the rapids of Farmington River - Collinsville in a kayak. If the weather is great here at Wood Pond, you can go for a hike along the Tunxis Trail, and swamps don’t sound that good but Spice Bush Swamp in the vicinity of Wood Pond is rather good. Gotta ski! Acres Campground is a wonderful spot to camp. During the summer months here at Wood Pond, high temperatures typically get into the 80's while nighttime lows are mostly in the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets
highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Wood Pond. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Wood Pond you will meet lots of folks from close by Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford. This lake is
so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by close by Cornerstone Pool, and there's a forest here called Mooneys Woods. The high level of rain makes Wood Pond a relatively wet location; throughout
the month of May you get the most rain around here, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Going for a hike along the Metacomet Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity, and after a long day outdoors

Metacomet Trail
 | I finally located the trail entrance about 20 feet past a dirt road gate on the right that I had been using to get to the ridge line. Thanks for the help!...Gene, The trailhead at 315 and 189 is actually on Mountain Road which comes off the Rd right at the juncture. The telphone poles are blazed and the trail breaks into the woods about halfway up on the right side of the road. That is a nice section of trail although we hiked it in the rain. Happy Trails....I am having difficulty locating the trail head in East Granby at rtes. 315 and 189 that leads to south toward Penwood State Park. The trail maps say that the trail head is on Mountain Road, but there are no blue/yellow blazed trail markers on either of the two entry points into the woods. The only indication of the trail is the sign post at the bottom of the road in the three way intersection. Thanks.... |
