From a precipitation point of view Wononpakook Lake is a reasonably typical place; most of the rain falls during May; February is the month with the least moisture. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Catamount while you're here, and if you're visiting from Torrington, you won't be the only one. You don’t have to go far from Wononpakook Lake to observe the water at Wononpakook       Lake Dam; Wononpakook Lake is brilliant enough to spend more than a day at, Housatonic Meadows State Park is a brilliant local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Great Barrington Days Inn is a splendid place to get some rest, and what would winter be without some skiing at Mohawk Mountain. This lake is so wonderful. In case you don’t mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Housatonic River, and not far from Wononpakook Lake you'll                  locate Wononskopomuc Lake which is a wonderful lake. Throughout the long summer days here at Wononpakook Lake, high temperatures mostly reach the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are ordinarily in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Wononpakook Lake. But wait, there's more to do close to Wononpakook Lake. When you're here at Wononpakook Lake it's always fun to stop at Housatonic Meadows State Park; there's some flowing water nearby, Beeslick Brook is a stream you can stop at during your stay. Just can't get enough of Wononpakook Lake. The Indian Trail offers hiking at its best; a day at scenic Mudge Pond Town Beach near Wononpakook Lake is a great thing to do. There's nice hiking along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. There's so much to do here at Wononpakook Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Taconic State Park Rudd Pond is a fine place for that. You get a magnificent sight of Gay Woods Hill from Wononpakook Lake; why not take a refreshing hike along the Elbow Trail.
