If you are in Litchfield county it's always a good idea to stop by West Hill Pond. There's brilliant hiking along the Mattatuck Trail, and soar down the rapids of Still River in a kayak. You'll meet a lot of folks from Torrington here, and Quality Inn & Suites is a glorious place to get some rest. Why not take a look at West Hill Pond Dam since you're here; if you like swamps you're in luck, Cedar Swamp is right close by.

| | at its best, and Burr Pond State Park is a good location to stretch your legs a bit. This lake is so wonderful. There's some flowing water nearby, Cedar Swamp Brook is a stream you can explore while here, and brilliant skiing awaits you at Ski Sundown. West Hill Pond regularly gets lots of rain; most of the rain falls during August, and January on the other hand is the driest.

night is fairly cooler of course, frequently in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's while West Hill Pond nighttime low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 10's. Any time is a brilliant time at West Hill
Pond if you love the outdoors. Dry warm beds await you at Days Inn - Torrington, and Otis Ridge has perfect slopes and a friendly staff. There's just no way someone can get bored here at West Hill Pond. Paddling on Farmington River

A lake nearby is Laurel Lake, and a brilliant site to camp here at West Hill Pond is Austin Hawes Campground. This lake is so wonderful. You can catch a sight of Wallens Hill from West Hill Pond; West Hill Pond is great enough to spend more than a day at, White Pines Campground is a great local campground.
