Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Still River; if you came for an overnight stay White Pines Campground is a magnificent place to camp. Throughout the summer months highs here at West Hill Pond get into the 70's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's; after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at West Hill Pond fall into the 10's.

| | There's just no way anybody can get bored here at West Hill Pond. Hit the slopes at Otis Ridge close at hand, and West Hill Pond is not the only location nearby, Laurel Lake is a nearby lake. If you come at the right time of year, Farmington River - Riverton offers some magnificent whitewater, and Austin Hawes Campground is a great campground nearby. Hill can be distinguished from West Hill Pond; Ski Sundown has glorious slopes and a friendly staff. Cedar Swamp Brook is a stream that you may run into during your stay; lots of folks from Torrington come here. This lake is so wonderful.
Good hiking is available along the Mattatuck Trail; if you've had enough of West Hill Pond, Laurel Lake is nearby. Dry warm beds await you at Days Inn - Torrington, also West Hill Pond Dam is worth going to since you're here.
This lake is so wonderful. If you like swamps, you're in luck, Cedar Swamp is right nearby; hiking is a popular thing to do around West Hill Pond; Tunxis Trail is a good local trail. After a long day outdoors Quality Inn & Suites
is a nice location to spend a night or two; Burr Pond State Park is worth going to. The high level of rainfall makes West Hill Pond a pretty wet place; August is when you get the most rain here, and the driest of the months is January.
