     Lake Waramaug is not far at all from Torrington, and Straits Pond is a great lake nearby. Having a splendid time at Lake Waramaug is trouble-free. Above All is a peak you can catch a glimpse of from Lake Waramaug; if you come at the right time of year, East Aspetuck River offers some tremendous whitewater. Throughout the summertime at Lake Waramaug highs are usually in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter  
   are in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Lake Waramaug temperatures plunge to the 10's. Skiing at Mohawk Mountain is one of those things you just must do, and if you need a spot to stay The Mayflower Inn & Spa is a pleasant choice.
All the outdoors entertaining stuff near Lake Waramaug will keep you coming back again and again. There's so much to do here at Lake Waramaug that you need to camp here for a while, Buck's Rock Camp is a glorious
 
               place for that; do explore Straits Pond Dam while you're here. A common amount of precipitation falls here at Lake Waramaug; June is the month that gets the most rain, and January is the month with the least moisture. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Lake Waramaug has to offer, you can camp at Lake Waramaug State Park, and a visit to Lake Waramaug State Park revitalizes the soul.
On a nice day you can check out Ash Swamp, a swamp next to Lake Waramaug, and a scenic lake like Bates Pond is a splendid location to stop by. This lake is so wonderful. Getting to Lake Waramaug Brook from Lake Waramaug is easy; Marks Hollow is close by, and is a good location. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Lake Waramaug without first going for a hike along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and a good close by hotel is Homestead Inn.
You can never get enough of the good skiing at Woodbury, and there's great hiking along the Mattatuck Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Arrow Point is close at hand and always brilliant to visit; get yourself into a kayak and hit Shepaug River.
