This lake is so wonderful. Tollgate Hill Inn is a splendid location to get some rest, and right next door to Wangum Lake you come across a golf course called Quarry View Golf Course. If you need a site to stay Blackberry River Inn is a perfect choice; Roaring Brook is one of the streams close by that might be worth stopping at. Lakes are great;       Old Man McMullen Pond is a lake that's near Wangum Lake, and if you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Housatonic River. Man, is there a heap of enjoyable things to do in the vicinity of Wangum Lake. The slopes of Ski Butternut are so inviting nobody can resist, and camping is available at Housatonic Meadows State Park. Red Spruce Swamp is a swamp next to Wangum Lake; a glorious place to camp here at Wangum Lake is Lone Oak Camp                  Sites. Here at Wangum Lake you'll almost certainly meet some folks from Torrington, and needless to say, this is a splendid area for folks who like lakes, Seldom Seen Pond is a lake close at hand. If only every location had this much outdoors enjoyable things, what a great world it would be. Haystack Mountain State Park is a great location to stretch your legs a bit, and on a fine day you can take a hike along the Elbow Trail. All the water falling down from the sky makes Wangum Lake a wet place; during August this area sees the most rain, and the driest month is February. There is a perfect hiking trail near Wangum Lake called the Indian Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Here at Wangum Lake you can observe Canaan Mountain, and everybody nearby loves skiing at Mohawk Mountain.
