Good hiking is available along the Mattabesset Trail, and Valley Shores Pond North is a good lake nearby. The warmest time of the year at Thirsty Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's while nighttime lows are commonly in the       60's. Throughout the wintertime the highs are typically in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Thirsty Lake. Nothing beats kicking back at Circle Beach; Hungry Hill is easy to spot from Thirsty Lake. The scenery at Guilford Lakes Lower Dam close to Thirsty Lake is scenic, and there are other spots here than Thirsty Lake, for example Witch Hazel Millpond. Thirsty Lake is a reasonably wet place commonly with much precipitation; most of                  the rain falls throughout April, and the driest month of the year is February. Guilford Lakes Golf Course is a golf course in the neighborhood of Thirsty Lake, and there's great hiking along the Washington Trail. Dry warm beds await you at Tower Inn and Suites, and you can go for a hike on the West Woods Trail. If only every place had this much outdoors enjoyable stuff, what a great world it would be. Drift down the rapids of Hammonasset River in a kayak, and Powder Ridge is a great local ski area. This lake is so wonderful. At Thirsty Lake you always meet someone from New Haven-Milford, and Chatfield Hollow State Park is a glorious spot. This lake is so wonderful. Hit the beach if you want, Jacobs Public Beach is practically right here, and do go to Iron Stream if you're here at Thirsty Lake. Man, is there loads of enjoyable things to do next to Thirsty Lake.
