If you are in Hartford county it's always a good idea to stop by Talcott Reservoir. If you came to camp Golden Acres Campground is a good place to do that; don't leave without dropping by Talcott Mountain State Park. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. Head up to Powder Ridge and strap some skis to your feet, and nearby you locate the Mattabesset Trail which is a great hiking trail. After a long day outdoors Avon Old Farms is a good place

You can run the rapids of Farmington River close to Talcott Reservoir; a tremendous spot for whitewater paddling is Farmington River - Collinsville. This lake is so wonderful. There is a glorious hiking trail near Talcott Reservoir called the Metacomet Trail. wonderful way to kill some time. Summertime highs at Talcott Reservoir frequently tend to be in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 30's, and overnight lows during the winter
