There's so much to do here at Talcott Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Golden Acres Campground is a great       location for that; Hart Meadow is an exciting swamp in the neighborhood of Talcott Reservoir. Avon Mountain can be spotted from Talcott Reservoir, and scenic scenery and good skiing is what you acquire at Powder Ridge. If the weather is great here at Talcott Reservoir, you can go for a hike along the Metacomet Trail, and if you need a place to stay Avon Old Farms is a brilliant choice. There is a good hiking trail near Talcott Reservoir called the Tunxis                  Trail, and some good nature is available in Newton Brainard Forest. This lake is so wonderful. There are some brilliant whitewater spots on Farmington River - Collinsville, and there's always Talcott Reservoir Diversion Dike to explore right next door to Talcott Reservoir. Lakes are splendid; Hartford Reservoir Number 6 is a lake that's in the vicinity of Talcott Reservoir, and Homewood Suites Farmington is a nice place to get some rest. Through the long summer days at Talcott Reservoir highs are commonly in the 80's, and the overnight is somewhat cooler of course, typically in the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 30's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Talcott Reservoir dip into the 10's. This is a splendid vicinity for people who like lakes. Welles Pond is a lake close at hand, and playing golf is lots of fun at Buena Vista Golf Course. If only every place had this much outdoors fun stuff, what a great world it would be. On a fine day at Talcott Reservoir you can take a hike along the Mattabesset Trail; Talcott Reservoir is not far at all from Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford. Talcott Reservoir is a relatively wet place usually with a great deal of precipitation; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is February. Gotta ski!
