Mashamoquet Brook State Park is both great and pretty, and it's close to Taft Pond, and there's delightful hiking along the Munyan Trail. This lake is so wonderful. A spree to Quinebaug & Shetucket Rivers Valley National Heritage Corridor is recommended; Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Killingly (Dayville), Ct is a nice site to get some rest. At Taft Pond throughout the summertime highs are       in the 80's while night lows are mostly in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's with temperatures at Taft Pond dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. You can run the rapids of Natchaug River in the vicinity of Taft Pond, and there's some interesting stuff to spot at Abbott Dam in the vicinity of Taft Pond. If you want a great time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Taft Pond. Take a little trip                  to Abington Brook since you're here at Taft Pond, and if you came to camp Mashamoquet Brook State Park is a tremendous place to do that. Enjoy a round of golf at Harrisville Golf Course not far from Taft Pond, and don't leave Taft Pond without first going for a hike along the Border Trail. Kelly Ponds is a nearby lake that you could go to, and the Walkabout Trail offers hiking at its best. Taft Pond is a wet site that gets a lot of rainfall; November is the wettest month with most rain; the driest month is February. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting things at Taft Pond. While you're here at Taft Pond, you could also check out pretty Abbott Pond, and camping at Wolf Den Campground is always a magnificent experience. A delightful nearby hotel is The Inn at Woodstock Hill, and a nice location for whitewater paddling is Quinebaug River.
