Stay the night at Golden Acres Campground, and after a long day outdoors Residence Inn Hartford Avon is a good place to spend a night or two. Stub Pond Dam is worth stopping at since you're here; don't leave Stub Pond without first going for a hike along the Mattatuck Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Metacomet Trail is always a great adventure; if you get bored of Stub Pond you could also explore nearby Lily Pond. Stratton Brook State

| | Park is a delightful place to stretch your legs a bit; the peak of Bushy Hill can be observed from Stub Pond. This lake is so wonderful. American Legion State Forest is a tremendous campground nearby, and wonderful skiing awaits you at Ski Sundown. The high level of precipitation makes Stub Pond a relatively wet place; August is the month that gets the most rain while January is generally the driest month. just come on down to Stub Pond. Some of the water nearby flows, like Nod Brook, and there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Mount Southington. There are magnificent sites to look at along the Tunxis Trail, and get
yourself into a kayak and hit Farmington River. Playing golf is lots of fun at Blue Fox Run Golf Course, and if you need a place to stay Avon Old Farms is a nice choice. A lake nearby is Lake Erie. You'll wish for more hours in
a day to enjoy all the exciting stuff at Stub Pond. Drift down the rapids of Farmington River - Collinsville in a kayak; lots of folks from Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford come here. All through the summer at Stub Pond temperatures
are frequently in the 70's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. All through the winter highs are frequently in the 20's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Stub Pond.
