The scenery at Straits Pond Dam near Straits Pond is delightful; don't leave Straits Pond without first going for a hike along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. Summertime highs at Straits Pond usually tend to be in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Straits Pond. Shepaug River has a good whitewater paddling spot nearby, and Straits Pond

| | is not far at all from Torrington. Lake Waramaug State Park is a wonderful campground nearby, and a delightful lake like Lake Waramaug is a magnificent site to stop at. Head up to Woodbury and strap some skis to your feet; Straits Pond is a great place to visit for more than one day, Buck's Rock Camp is a great place to camp nearby. A perfect nearby hotel is Homestead Inn, and a journey here wouldn’t be complete without a visit to close by Lake Waramaug State | |

Park. That right there is loads already, but it keeps on going; Straits Pond has it all. Whitewater paddling is tremendous on East Aspetuck River, and do stop by Eel Pond, it's a striking lake. This lake is so wonderful. If you
need a place to stay The Mayflower Inn & Spa is a pleasant choice, and you are in close proximity to Arrow Point if you're here. This lake is so wonderful. There's glorious hiking along the Mattatuck Trail, and the best way to spend
a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Mohawk Mountain. Straits Pond gets a common amount of yearly precipitation; June is the wettest month with most rain while January is typically the driest month. And that's not all you can
do here at Straits Pond. If you like swamps, you're in luck, Ash Swamp is right close by, and a great sight of wonderful Above All is available.
