Sterling Pond Dam is a pretty location near Sterling Pond, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Walkabout Trail. If you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Quinebaug River, and if you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Foster Country Club is close at hand. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. Hopeville Pond State Park is both brilliant and beautiful, and it's                  next to Sterling Pond. There's so much to do here at Sterling Pond that you need to camp here for a while, River Bend Campground and Canoe Sales is a perfect spot for that. A lot of rainfall falls at Sterling Pond; through the month of November you get the most rain around here, and February is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. You could also visit Roger Lake since you're here at Sterling Pond; it's close by, and do take a hike on the Narragansett Trail. A lake close by is Oneco Pond, and you can have a glorious hiking adventure along the Border Trail. Man, is there a heap of amusing stuff to do in the vicinity of Sterling Pond. Clear and Branch has a good whitewater paddling spot close by; Sterling Pond is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Sterling Park Campground is a delightful local campground. Some of the water close by flows, like Browns Brook, and dry warm beds await you at Quality Inn Plainfield.
