Siscowit Reservoir is a lake worth visiting. Sheraton Stamford Hotel is a magnificent place to get some rest; the nice people of Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown like to hang out close by. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay Roger Sherman Inn (Le) is a splendid choice, and while you're here, you could stop by Mill River. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this spot. You'll find a scenic lake called Lockwood Pond near Siscowit Reservoir,

| | and a spree to Seth Low Pierrepont State Park Reserve is a nice idea. A delightful lake like New Canaan Reservoir near Siscowit Reservoir is a fine location to visit, and Siscowit Reservoir Dam is a pretty spot. There's so much to do here at Siscowit Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Mountain Workshop is a great spot for that, and in the neighborhood of Siscowit Reservoir you hit upon a golf course called Pound Ridge Golf Club. is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Norwalk River, and if you came to camp Camp Kiwi is a good place to do that. At Siscowit Reservoir through the summer highs are in the 80's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's mostly
in the 60's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 30's while Siscowit Reservoir night low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 10's. Siscowit Reservoir frequently gets a great deal of precipitation; the wettest
month of the year is regularly May, that's the one that rains the most while January is mostly the driest month. The peak of Becks Hill can be observed from Siscowit Reservoir; the skiing at Thunder Ridge is good.

Dixon Lake
 | 18 miles away ... Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt road..I went to Austin rd elem.my age now is forty... |
