A journey to Gay City State Park when you're here at Shenipsit Lake is a delightful idea; Shenipsit Lake Dam is an out of the ordinary thing to check out. Enjoy a round of golf at Twin Hills Country Club not far from Shenipsit Lake, and Dobsonville Pond is a good lake close by. This lake is so wonderful. It's a good idea to go to Charters Brook, it's in the neighborhood of Shenipsit Lake; if you came to camp Del-aire Camping Resort is a tremendous spot to do

| | that. A pretty lake like Paper Mill Pond near Shenipsit Lake is a wonderful spot to pop by, and if you need a place to stay Howard Johnson Express Inn - Vernon is a delightful choice.
But wait, there's more to do in close proximity to Shenipsit Lake. Comfort Inn Vernon is a magnificent location to get some rest, and in the event that you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Roaring Brook River. This lake is so wonderful. | |

Whitewater paddling is good on Salmon River; at Shenipsit Lake you always meet someone from Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford.
Shenipsit Lake is a reasonably wet place regularly with lots of rain; most of the rain falls through
April, and the driest month of the year is February. At Shenipsit Lake throughout the warmest time of the year highs are in the 80's with night lows in the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 30's while the cold winter nights
at Shenipsit Lake are in the 10's. Camping at Sun Valley Camping Cooperative is always a glorious experience; Fox Hill is clearly visible from Shenipsit Lake.

Im here everyday besides wensday. on wensday they give uss off. don and ann are very nice people with a very nice store and very nice overpriced things inside there very nice store. soon they will mater building the roads and hopefuly next spring will be a very nice one. they have very clean and large sites and never are all the sites full so dont let them tell you there booked. if your looking for a nice peaceful time come durring the normal weekends but if your looking for lots of action well come on the major weekends. if your have any teens bring them because there are lots of very nice children in a drug-free enviroment. we have been her since the begining of time and for some reason where still here! the speed limits 5mph but I drive at around 12mph shhh.... |

THe fishermen aren't nice here, especially in the Fly fishing area, we caught a lot of heck from them last year. MAde the trip no fun, I won't return. Forest Lake

Firstly, Forest Lake does not offer any camping whatsoever, public or private. There is a Jewish retreat camp within 1/2 mile of Forest Lake, however that is not open to the public and is not on Forest Lake itself. Camp Ramah is on Pattaquattic Pond. In neighboring Monson, MA, there is a camp, but that is about 10 miles from the only access point offered to the public on Forest Lake, and is also not connected to Forest Lake in any way. Forest Lake in Palmer, MA, only has about 100 ft. of publicly accessible shore, probably about fifty of which is a swimmer's beach. Fishing is allowed. You can launch boats, but there is a 10 mph and 10 hp limit for motoring. Currently, the restaurant and bar across the street, ''Doyle's'', previously ''Lakeview Lounge'' is closed. Palmer is a lovely, quiet town off of the interstate with few accomodations for those looking to stay overnight, nevermind camp. Campers should look elsewhere and day-trip to Palmer if they want to try their luck at this small-town community beach.... |
