It's always fun to stop by Sheffield Pond. Kettletown State Park is a great campground nearby, and there are other places here than Sheffield Pond, for example Hendersons Pond. Spectacle Swamp Dam is wonderful and it's near Sheffield Pond, and swamps like Spectacle Swamp are fun to stop by. This lake is so wonderful. Sheffield Pond is not far at all from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown, and if you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Pound Ridge Golf

| | Club is around here. A delightful close by hotel is Ridgefield CT Days Inn, and a quick spree to East Branch Comstock Brook is positively a tremendous idea. Summertime highs at Sheffield Pond generally tend to be in the 80's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's while the cold winter nights at Sheffield Pond are in the 10's. That right there is a lot already, but it continues; Sheffield Pond has it all. | |

If you came for an overnight stay Mountain Workshop is a wonderful place to camp, and Roger Sherman Inn (Le) is a splendid spot to get some rest. Sheffield Pond typically gets much precipitation; May is the month that gets the
most rain, and the driest month is January. Get dripping wet paddling on East Aspetuck River. Lakes? Sure, Spectacle Swamp is in the neighborhood. This lake is so wonderful. Paddling on Norwalk River is so much fun, and a trip here
wouldn’t be complete without a trip to nearby Seth Low Pierrepont State Park Reserve. At Sheffield Pond you can make out Bald Hill; Thunder Ridge is a very popular ski area close by. This is no location for people who don’t like to have fun.

 | 19 miles away ...y Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt road..I went to Austin rd elem.my age now is fort... |
