    If you are in this part of Connecticut make sure to pay a visit to Shadow Lake. A golf course right next door to Shadow Lake is Ridgefield Golf Course, and Springhill Suites By Marriott Danbury is a great place to get some rest. Why not camp at Mountain Workshop if you're here at Shadow Lake, and if you need a spot to stay Danbury Super 8 Motel is a brilliant choice. This lake is so wonderful. Seth Low Pierrepont State Park Reserve is a great place to explore;  
   one of the governing traits of the surroundings of Shadow Lake is Ned Mountain.
Shadow Lake gets a normal amount of annual rain; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain; the driest of the months is February. You just should love Shadow Lake. Norwalk River has a splendid whitewater paddling spot close by; the cheerful people of Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown like to hang out close by. Shadow Lake Dam is a spot that is close to Shadow
 
               Lake, and camping is available at Kettletown State Park.
Thunder Ridge has glorious slopes and a friendly staff, and why not go to a swamp like Mill Plain Swamp if you're here at Shadow Lake. Paddling on East Aspetuck River is so much fun, and since you're here, you could also visit scenic Lake Windwing. At Shadow Lake through the summertime highs are in the 80's while nighttime lows are commonly in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and overnight lows all through the winter for Shadow Lake tend to be in the 10's.
This lake is so wonderful. Miry Brook is a wonderful local stream; you'll come across a delightful lake called Lake Kenosia. You feel that's enough? Just getting warmed up.

... I lived in the three story pink house on chestnut ridge rd.back in the late sixties ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. I was at the camp from 1963-1969. It shaped my childhood. My mother was there when she was a kid too. I found her name carved into one of the bunks on the rafters: Sydell Freiman 1949! Shame it's not used anymore for innercity poor kids, like we were. Ellen Knebel...I'm sad to hear that the camp itself is not there any more. I worked there in 69-73...I began working on ''the senior side'' and we livrf in ''the mansion'' for one summer. ...There was a house at the middle of the camp itself where the camp director lived. we stayed one night. there is a camp store and concession. lake for swimming and fishing. you can rent a canoe but it was 50 a day.sites are clean but not very private. bathrooms with showers were clean. Very family oriented kids bikes ect. quiet rule was respected by all young and old. we had a wonderful time. small town not far for pizza if needed...

In 1947, Skiing Hall of Fame member, Walt Schoenknecht, created Mohawk Mountain Ski Area amidst the beauty of the Southern Berkshire Mountain. The following winter he invented snowmaking, which is currently used at winter resorts throughout the world. Mohawk Mountain has remained a family business and a favorite destination for succeeding generations of families.Mohawk Mountain Ski Area is a private corporation working in partnership with the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection at Mohawk State Park. Mohawk State Forest has cross-country trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing at the top of the mountain but are not maintained or connected with the Ski Area. Access is obtained off of Rt. 4 in Cornwall CT....
