     You don’t have to go far from Shadow Lake to see the water at Shadow Lake Dam, and possibly you're looking for close by lakes? Sure, Lake Windwing is just a very short distance away. A typical amount of precipitation falls here at Shadow Lake; May is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is February. All the outdoors enjoyable things next to Shadow Lake will keep you coming back many times. Miry Brook is one of the streams nearby that  
   might be worth visiting, and a great sight of beautiful Ned Mountain is available. Shadow Lake is near Seth Low Pierrepont State Park Reserve which is a delightful place, and there's whitewater on East Aspetuck River for all you adrenaline junkies.
Shadow Lake is a location with many visitors from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Shadow Lake has to offer, you can camp at Mountain Workshop. This lake is so wonderful.
 
               You can never get enough of the fine skiing at Thunder Ridge; Shadow Lake is a splendid spot to visit for more than one day, Kettletown State Park is a splendid spot to camp nearby. High temperatures at Shadow Lake through the summertime months are in the 80's while overnight lows are usually in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and night lows at Shadow Lake during the wintertime usually drop into the 10's.
There are some great whitewater spots on Norwalk River, and SpringHill Suites Danbury is a wonderful spot to get some rest. Swamps are out of the ordinary places and Mill Plain Swamp right next door to Shadow Lake is no exception, needless to say you could also explore Lake Kenosia since you're here; it's not far at all. Having a wonderful time at Shadow Lake is uncomplicated.
This lake is so wonderful. If you're here at Shadow Lake and you like golf, you can go to Ridgefield Golf Course, and dry warm beds await you at Danbury Plaza Hotel.

... ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt road..I went to Austin rd elem.my age n...

Ella Fohs Camp Pond

I attended Ella Fohs as a camper and a counselor.  The time was early 1950s - 1955...I was at the camp from 1963-1969. It shaped my childhood. My mother was there when she was a kid too. I found her name carved into one of the bunks on the rafters: Sydell Freiman 1949! Shame it's not used anymore for innercity poor kids, like we were. Ellen Knebel...I'm sad to hear that the camp itself is not there any more. I worked there in 69-73...I began working on ''the senior side'' and we livrf in ''the mansion'' for one summer. ...There was a house at the middle of the camp itself where the camp director lived. Is it still there??...

Do you have any pictures of camp henry?  My father went there in the 1920's.  The land was sold a while ago and now has a housing development on it....Lillian Wald had a camp on secor lake .Camp Henry.i am fortune enough to have been born on the block where Lillian started the henry street settlement. I am a 49yr who spent 10 summers of my life on lake secor 67-76..Actually I live in the settlement for 3 1/2 yrs. Amazing!...

we stayed one night. there is a camp store and concession. lake for swimming and fishing. you can rent a canoe but it was 50 a day.sites are clean but not very private. bathrooms with showers were clean. Very family oriented kids bikes ect. quiet rule was respected by all young and old. we had a wonderful time. small town not far for pizza if needed...

The following winter he invented snowmaking, which is currently used at winter resorts throughout the world. Mohawk Mountain has remained a family business and a favorite destination for succeeding generations of families.Mohawk Mountain Ski Area is a private corporation working in partnership with the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection at Mohawk State Park. Mohawk State Forest has cross-country trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing at the top of the mountain but are not maintained or connected with the Ski Area. Access is obtained off of Rt. 4 in Cornwall CT....
