Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Hammonasset River; you can hit the beach if you want, Dossin Park Beach is practically right here. If you're visiting Scards Pond from New Haven-Milford, you won't be the only one, and you can have a great hiking       adventure along the Mattabesset Trail. Don't forget to take a great little visit to Spring Brook, and a fine close by hotel is Homewood Suites by Hilton WallingfordMeriden. Camping at Little City Campground is always a nice experience, and if you've had enough of Scards Pond, Spring Brook Reservoir is close by. This lake is so wonderful. And if you're still looking for more outdoors enjoyable stuff just keep reading. Hiking along the Washington Trail is magnificent                  fun; a brilliant site to stop by close by is Reed Gap. This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Roaring Brook River for all you adrenaline junkies; Mount Southington has great slopes and a friendly staff. Scards Pond is a relatively wet place frequently with a lot of precipitation; through the month of May you get the most rain around here, and February is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Powder Ridge, and camping is available at Camp Eagle Feather. Whohoo, so much exciting stuff in one place! Scards Pond is so good! At Ulbrich Reservoir Dam next to Scards Pond there are some attention-grabbing things to see; most likely you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Ulbrich Reservoir is just a very short distance away. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Scards Pond. During the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 30's; night lows through the winter for Scards Pond tend to be in the 10's.
