Wildwood State Park is a great local campground, and you're probably interested in lakes, Indian Lake is one of those close by. You're sure to run into some smiling people from New Haven-Milford here, and after a long day outdoors Quality Inn Milford is a good place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. | | in the 80's. Summer overnight lows sink down to the 60's. Through the wintertime the highs are usually in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Rose Mill Pond are in the 20's. All the water falling down from the sky makes Rose Mill Pond a wet place; May is the wettest month with most rain, and February is when it's the driest. is so wonderful. Why not camp at National Computer Camps since you're here at Rose Mill Pond, and since you're here you can play some golf at Orange Hills Country Club. Hilton Garden Inn Milford is a great place to get some rest,
and Baldwin Point is pretty close. Just can't get enough of Rose Mill Pond. Hit the beach if you want, Farview Beach is practically right here, and Bryan Hill is trouble-free to spot from Rose Mill Pond. Swamps like Farley Swamp near
Rose Mill Pond make for great locations to check out, and do pop by Indian River if you're here at Rose Mill Pond. This lake is so wonderful. A visit to Osbornedale State Park when you're here at Rose Mill Pond is a tremendous
idea, and there's glorious hiking along the Quinnipiac Trail. Head up to Woodbury and strap some skis to your feet, and you can go for a hike on the Regicides Trail. So much exciting stuff to do at Rose Mill Pond, so little time.
Don't leave Rose Mill Pond without first going for a hike along the Naugatuck Trail, and at Indian Lake Dam right next door to Rose Mill Pond there are some interesting things to see.

Maltby Lake
 | Call the Regional Water Authority and ask for Anita in Recreation, 203-624-6671. She'll set you up with a permit. Or you can go online, www.rwater.com. Maltby Lakes are made up of three lakes located off of Route 34 in West Haven. The permit also gives you access to Lake Saltonstall and Lake Chamberlain for fishing. Lake Chamberlain
 | Access only with Regional Water Authority permit (25$/year). Off Rt. 69, turn down Morris Road at Bethany/Woodbridge border. Left at stopsign onto dirt road, second gated entrance on right. Fishing, hiking/running, horseback riding. Good sized lake for the area, however boating is strictly forbidden. Gorgeous, peaceful surroundings (no houses), and wildlife abounds. The deer often tolerate people closeby. The fishing can be good for the experienced bass fisherman willing to hike around to the various small, scattered areas where casting is possible. These spots are often choked with brush so accurate casting, texas-rigged soft plastic baits, and at least 8lb test line are a must. I've caught a few 4-5lb bass and some good sized pickerel.... |
