Don't try to stop me, cause I'm havin' a nice time here at Risley Reservoir. Paddling on Salmon River is so much fun, also Risley Reservoir Dam is worth going to while you're here. Clarks Brook is a wonderful stream that is worth going to; Gay City State Park is a charming place any time of year. If you're a golfer then a good close by course is Minnechaug Golf Course, and after a long day outdoors Comfort Inn       Vernon is a great spot to spend a night or two. Box Hill is clearly visible from Risley Reservoir, needless to say you could also go to Aldon Mill Pond since you're here; it's not far at all. The nice people of Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford like to hang out close by, and Risley Reservoir is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Del-aire Camping Resort is a fine local campground. This lake is so wonderful. A delightful nearby hotel is Howard Johnson Express                  Inn Vernon, and whitewater paddling is great on Roaring Brook River. Lots of rain falls at Risley Reservoir; the month with most of the rain is May; July is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Nelson's Family Campground is always a glorious experience, and in all probability you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Bolton Notch Pond is just a very short distance away. High temperatures at Risley Reservoir through the summer months are in the 80's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 60's.
