The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Powder Ridge, and Plants Pond is a location with many visitors from New Haven-Milford. This lake is so wonderful. If the weather is magnificent here at Plants Pond, you can go for a hike along the Tunxis Trail, and Mount Southington is a very popular ski area in the vicinity.
