The beauty of Parkins Ponds is reason enough to stop by. There's whitewater on Bantam River for all you adrenaline people, and Parkins Ponds is not the only place close by, Ricker Pond is a close by lake. Get your pulse rate up on the pleasant whitewater of Shepaug River, and if you came for an overnight stay Cozy Hills Campground is a pleasant location to camp. This lake is so wonderful. | | skiing awaits you at Woodbury. While you're here at Parkins Ponds you can take a hike along the Mattatuck Trail, and obviously Carmel Hill Brook flows through this region. Trail, and there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Mohawk Mountain. Parkins Ponds sees pretty high levels of precipitation; the wettest month of the year is usually August, that's the one that rains the most; February
is when it's the driest. During the warm months, highs commonly are in the 80's at Parkins Ponds. Summer overnight lows plunge down to the 50's. Highs during the winter are generally in the 30's, and after the sun is down through
the winter temperatures at Parkins Ponds dip into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. The Mattatuck Trail is a great hiking trail close to Parkins Ponds; camping is available at Looking Glass Hill Campgrounds.
