Penwood State Park is a splendid place, and going for a hike along the Metacomet Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region. Summertime highs at Olds and Whipple Pond generally tend to be in the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are usually in the                  30's, and overnight lows through the winter for Olds and Whipple Pond tend to be in the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. The view of Barrett Hill from Olds and Whipple Pond is scenic, and camping at Southwick Acres Campground is always a great experience. If you're here at Olds and Whipple Pond and you like golf, you can stop by Airways Golf Course & Country Club; Windsor Locks Reservoir is a delightful lake nearby. A striking lake like Reeds Pond near Olds and Whipple Pond is a great site to visit; some of the water nearby flows, like Adds Brook. Olds and Whipple Pond gets a great deal of water; May is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is January.
