Paddling on Salmon River is so much fun, and as expected Heft Brook flows through this region. So many entertaining things to do at Murray Ponds, so little time. The high level of rain makes Murray Ponds a relatively wet spot; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain; the driest month is February. If you get bored of Murray Ponds, you could also check out close by Killingworth Reservoir, and do take a hike on the Washington Trail.

| | Just can't get enough of Murray Ponds. There's so much to do here at Murray Ponds that you need to camp here for a while, River Road Campground is a great spot for that; a trip to Chatfield Hollow State Park when you're here is never a bad idea. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Murray Ponds you can play some golf at Hillside Links Golf Course; Hammonasset River has a pleasant whitewater paddling spot nearby. months highs are in the 80's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 30's while Murray Ponds nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 10's.
Madison Beach Hotel is a delightful place to get some rest, and hiking along the West Woods Trail is perfect fun. Head up to Powder Ridge and strap some skis to your feet, and if you need a place to stay A Victorian Village Inn is
a great choice. Killingworth Reservoir Dam is not far at all from Murray Ponds, and you can stay the night at Riverdale Camp Sites. This lake is so wonderful. Murray Pond Number 2 is a nearby lake that you could have a look at, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Mattabesset Trail.
