What a nice lake Milford Reservoir is. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Woodbury if you're here; why not check out a swamp like Billberry Swamp if you're here at Milford Reservoir. This lake is so wonderful. Near Milford Reservoir you discover the Regicides Trail which is a good hiking trail; Osbornedale State Park is worth visiting. On a great day it's a good idea to spend the day at Fort Trumbull Beach, and you can stay the night at Hither Hills State Park.

| Uh. Pleasure beach bridge burned 10 years ago and you can't get out there. It is basically abandonded buildings and trash. Was this auto generated or something? Tongue point is always nice to visit? Tongue point is owned by the electric utility and is the site of a generating plant, besides being off limits it is ugly (except for the lighthouse). Please update this entry, or better yet just delete it.... |

| Call the Regional Water Authority and ask for Anita in Recreation, 203-624-6671. She'll set you up with a permit. Or you can go online, www.rwater.com. Maltby Lakes are made up of three lakes located off of Route 34 in West Haven. The permit also gives you access to Lake Saltonstall and Lake Chamberlain for fishing. Access only with Regional Water Authority permit (25$/year). Off Rt. 69, turn down Morris Road at Bethany/Woodbridge border. Left at stopsign onto dirt road, second gated entrance on right. Fishing, hiking/running, horseback riding.
Good sized lake for the area, however boating is strictly forbidden. Gorgeous, peaceful surroundings (no houses), and wildlife abounds. The deer often tolerate people closeby. The fishing can be good for the experienced bass fisherman willing to hike around to the various small, scattered areas where casting is possible. These spots are often choked with brush so accurate casting, texas-rigged soft plastic baits, and at least 8lb test line are a must. I've caught a few 4-5lb bass and some good sized pickerel.... |
