On a tremendous day at Lake Mead you can take a hike along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and La Quinta Inn and Suites Armonk is a great place to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. You'll meet a lot of folks from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown here; after a long day outdoors Doral Arrowwood Conference Resort is a great location to spend a night or two. Round Hill is painless to spot from Lake Mead, and Golf Club of Purchase is a golf course nearby. This lake is so wonderful.

| | There are other spots here than Lake Mead, for example Closes Pond; there's whitewater on Norwalk River for all you adrenaline junkies. Just can't get enough of Lake Mead. Not far from Lake Mead, you'll come across F W Perry Pond which is a wonderful lake; Lake Mead is a fine location to visit for more than one day, Camp Echo Lake is a fine location to camp nearby. Harbor Point Beach is in close proximity to Lake Mead and is a pretty beach to take a look at, | |

and Soundview Sports is a tremendous local campground. At Lake Mead all through the summertime months highs are in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 60's. During the winter highs are in the 30's, and nighttime lows throughout the
winter for Lake Mead tend to be in the 10's. If you're interested in hydro structures, you can pop by F W Perry Pond Dam. Take a side visit to Wampus River, and you without doubt should visit Rockefeller State Park since you're
here. Lake Mead is a wet place that gets a lot of rainfall; during the month of May you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months is January.

The land was sold a while ago and now has a housing development on it....Lillian Wald had a camp on secor lake .Camp Henry.i am fortune enough to have been born on the block where Lillian started the henry street settlement. I am a 49yr who spent 10 summers of my life on lake secor 67-76..Actually I live in the settlement for 3 1/2 yrs. Amazing!... |
Dixon Lake
 | 16 miles away ...ridge rd.back in the late sixties ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt road..... |
Lounsbury Pond

You cannot camp at Blue Mountain Reservation. Stillwater Lake is in Putnam County and the trail near it is unmarked and not named.... |
