     In case you don’t mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Farmington River, and going for a hike on the Mattabesset Trail is always a perfect adventure. Summertime highs at Mary Baker Stanley Pool frequently tend to be in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are typically in the 30's with temperatures at Mary Baker Stanley Pool dipping down into the 10's during winter nights. This lake  
   is so wonderful. If you came to camp Camp Eagle Feather is a perfect place to do that; Blue Hills Reservoir is a fine lake close by. Blue Hills Dam is not far at all from Mary Baker Stanley Pool, and a perfect close by hotel is Homewood Suites by Hilton Hartford Downtown.
This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Golden Acres Campground is always a great experience; there is a glorious hiking trail nearby called the Metacomet Trail. So many fun things to do at Mary
 
               Baker Stanley Pool, so little time. Beamans Brook is one of the streams close by that might be worth visiting, and whitewater paddling is great on Roaring Brook River. This location is unbeatable, just explore all the amusing things to do right next door to Mary Baker Stanley Pool. There are perfect places to discover along the Tunxis Trail; a gorgeous lake like Keney Park Pond is a wonderful spot to check out.
The nice people of Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford like to hang out close by, and why not spend some time golfing at a close by golf course like Keney Golf Course. Talcott Mountain State Park is a great place to go if you're at Mary Baker Stanley Pool. If you need a location to stay Holiday Inn Express HARTFORD - DOWNTOWN is a nice choice, and Mount Southington has pleasant slopes and a friendly staff.
A good deal of precipitation falls at Mary Baker Stanley Pool; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Really good skiing awaits you at Powder Ridge, and if the weather is lovely, you get a wonderful sight of Johnson Hill from Mary Baker Stanley Pool.

Metacomet Trail
I finally located the trail entrance about 20 feet past a dirt road gate on the right that I had been using to get to the ridge line.  Thanks for the help!...Gene, The trailhead at 315 and 189 is actually on Mountain Road which comes off the Rd right at the juncture.  The telphone poles are blazed and the trail breaks into the woods about halfway up on the right side of the road.  That is a nice section of trail although we hiked it in the rain.  Happy Trails....I am having difficulty locating the trail head in East Granby at rtes. 315 and 189 that leads to south toward Penwood State Park.  The trail maps say that the trail head is on Mountain Road, but there are no blue/yellow blazed trail markers on either of the two entry points into the woods.  The only indication of the trail is the sign post at the bottom of the road in the three way intersection.  Thanks....
