Lake Kitchawan
...should the New York City area have been attacked. After my parents were divorced, my grandparents Frank C and Anna Shaw had possession of the cottage, which was called ''All-A-Shaw''. The only picture I have is in my own cottage in Jacksonport WI at the moment (framed with the original ''Survey of Accommodations for Evacuees''. I remember as a child, after my Dad moved to Florida, spending many weekends at the Lake with my Uncle Herb, Grandparents and Aunt Virginia (Dad's sister) her husband William Fehlhaber. My Cousin Craig Fehlhaber also has fond memories of the cottage and lake. Uncle Herb had a red, wooden canoe in the 1950s and 60s, and I really enjoyed canoeing on the lake with him. We swam from a floating dock just off the beach. The cottage was just up the hill from the central area. My Dad was part of a group of veterans who helped to build a memorial to the service men from the lake community who died during WW-II. When I travel to Jacksonport in May 2010 I will bring the picture taken outside the cottage before WWII back to scan and upload. C. Frank Shaw III, ...

Secor Lake
18 miles away I was a counselor at Camp Henry from 1965 thru 1974. It was a 28-acre plot on the east bank of Secor Lake. The hearthstone in the dining hall read ''1909,'' but we were told that the first Henry Street campers arrived in 1906, coming by train & buckboard. To our south on the lake was Secor Lake Camp, a Jewish camp; above to our north and east was DiLucca's dairy farm. Camp Henry housed 90 boys in three ''trips'' of 20 days each, every summer. Camp directors were a man named Bonner (thru 1964), Simon Schwartz, ('65 thru ''67), and James H. Robinson, Jr. (1968 thru 1976, the last year of the camp's existence). I became a unit leader (Unit One, ages 7 thru 9) in 1971, and camp chauffer in 1974. ...
Ella Fohs Camp Pond
18 miles away I attended Ella Fohs as a camper and a counselor. The time was early 1950s - 1955...I was at the camp from 1963-1969. It shaped my childhood. My mother was there when she was a kid too. I found her name carved into one of the bunks on the rafters: Sydell Freiman 1949! Shame it's not used anymore for innercity poor kids, like we were. Ellen Knebel...I'm sad to hear that the camp itself is not there any more. I worked there in 69-73...I began working on ''the senior side'' and we livrf in ''the mansion'' for one summer. ...There was a house at the middle of the camp itself where the camp director lived. Is it still there??...
